Andy Fergel joined Innovative Energy Alliance as General Counsel/Manager of Regulation and Compliance in January 2023.
Fergel grew up on a farm/ranch in Grant County, North Dakota where the Cedar Creek River meets the Cannonball River. The farm in which he was raised on was, and still is, served by the Mor-Gran-Sou Electric Cooperative. “When growing up on a farm, where part of a diversified farm operation includes milking cows, you realize very quickly how important rural electric cooperatives and cooperative principles are to the success of the family farm and the communities RECs serve,” said Fergel.
Previously, Fergel served as the Executive Director and Secretary-Treasurer of the State Bar of South Dakota, Chief Legal Counsel and Litigation Supervisor for the South Dakota Department of Revenue, General Counsel and Compliance Chief at the South Dakota Division of Insurance, and various other organizations. Fergel’s experience growing up in a community served by a rural electric cooperative and serving boards, government agencies, and leading a membership organization is valuable in helping IEA and its member cooperatives meet their missions and objectives.
In his spare time, he can be found spending time with family, hunting, fishing, and participating in community service.
We look forward to working alongside Fergel in serving our members.
